Breaking Resolutions and Starting Over…
by Timmy on Jan.11, 2010, under Uncategorized
So here we are already 11 days into the new year. And I have already broken half of the resolutions I said I was going to do. Go figure right. But the fact of it is that just saying at the begining of a year I’m going to do this doesn’t help one bit. These things are things we all see and know we need to something about. But we choose to blame others to make ourselves feel better. That it’s not our fault. I know all my problems are my own fault. I see them and I see their effects on myself. However it is not so easy as to just fix the problem. That’s where relapse comes in. I tend to find myself doing something I said I wouldn’t but I catch myself when it is too late. At that point there in no sense to stopping it and trying to follow my earlier resolution. But there lies the problem with us. We all say well why not just finish it this one time, why not do it this one time. Next time I won’t. But that’s the entire problem right there. As long as we continue to do that and just say next time then there will never be a next time. We have to learn realization and when we get to that point to not just say screw it and move on. We need to realize the fact and deal with it then. But these are words from a hypocrite I guess. But in a way we all are.
I do want to make this year a more productive and better year. There are goals I still wish to reach during the year. Already I have been keeping up with our work on the BN Games site with a few reviews i have done and also with our new weekly podcast. We have recruited a few good hosts but were still trying to structure everything a little bit better. Last night 2 hour podcast was a great success although a lot more of the insults were a little worse than usual. But in a debate it is normal for things to get a little heated. BUt like any T.V. or radio show it is taking its form slowly and surely. More reviews on games are also starting to pour in onto the BN Games site since we now have about 7 writers. I am doing my best to keep up with the BN Game site as well as the BN Podcast and working my normal job. SO Shiftdown has been dry as usual which I must apologize for. I still plan on getting 2 posts a week. Possibly being Wednesday and Friday thing with possible posts in between. I don’t really like the fact of letting this muse go to waste.
Now I know this week what I have written so far is not as profound as I prefer to write. But I am suffering from a bout of writers block as i usually am. I am a visual artist not a writer really. So I do find it hard to come up with content from time to time if there is nothing I feel or am interested in writing about.

Ok so i know this whole things been shaky for this past 6 months or so that I have had Shiftdown online. But with a new year comes a new begining as I am hoping to put what has been one of the Best and one of the worst years of my life behind me and move on into the future. We here at Basically nothing are really focusing on the BN Games site along with the Basically Bullshit Podcast. Ive lost a bit of focus lately since I have been working a lot more and am trying to hammer out a better time schedule with my position at my current job, along with balancing the BN game site which I also write for and the Podcast which I co-host and produce. Its a lot more than my tiny projects I am used too but it is good that I am making good progress on them.
I have many resolutions for this coming year and hope to stick to and complete most of them in due time. One Begining with Shift down becoming a regular 2 to 3 time a week post depending on my other projects I am working on. Other being the minor things we all say every year but never accomplish. But let’s see if I can actually make good on some things. There are also many goals I have for the coming year the main of which in returning to Japan for another great vacation.
Now that the year is coming to it’s final minutes I just want to give a shout out and thanks to all my friends who are already in the new year in there home countries, Tomoaki, Yuko, Akane, Saiko, Saki, Mocchi, Naoki, Stefan, and Teo. And to all my friends and family here in the U.S.
To everyone who reads this have a great New Year and I hope you will check back soon for the first post of Shiftdown in 2010

Black Friday……
by Timmy on Nov.27, 2009, under Uncategorized
Hello and welcome to a special edition holiday edition of Shiftdown where I rant about anything everything and nothing. Unusual today I have a little more structured post and whats today’s topic? It’s whats on everyone’s mind today “Black Friday”. The busiest shopping day of the year. A day that people camp in lines city blocks long too get the absolute best price on the items of their or their child’s dreams…
Now I can’t really stand Black Friday. I mean to me it’s pointless. I can understand all the great deals and wasnting to get a big 46 inch t.v. for $200. But honestly the way people act today is unreasonable. I mean the last couple of years people have been killed just trying to buy something just because there is not enough to go around and everyone wants it. And stores don’t do much about it like pass out number to say these people were here first and we only have this many so they get it too bad for you. And then again if they did some people are so desprate to get their hands on it to go as far to rob and or kill someone for it. It’s ridiculos. The holidays are supposed to be a happy time for everyone but how can it be happy if one of your family members is in jail or dead? And I think the fact that stores let people camp out in front of their businesses to wait to get in the minute they open is also a big factor because every has to survive the cold night and long boring wait.So it’s no suprise to me that people get unruly and tempers will start to flare if they don’t get what they waited all night long for. I mean seriously an other night people would be arrested for vagrancy or loitering for sleeping out in front of a store. I mean there were people with a tent in line last night when I went to my local walmart. And the line just kept going on for what seemed like forever. And I feel sorry for those in back because you know they aren’t going to get that item that is priced so low even Crazy Gideon (Local LA Joke) would say i’m not that crazy…
And the stores are so greedy they open up at the crack of dawn and have the best prices for a limited time. The one thing I have to at least say is most stores have more employees working for these days. However they still screw there regular employees by hiring seasonal workers. Its good to hire more people and give more jobs out but you could give your loyal and regular employees more work hours. And I will admit some do but still under the minimum so they don’t need to pay benefits or overtime. It’s sad how greedy these corporations are. And that they care so little for their employees. It is one of the main reasons I hate working in retail because no matter who or what your always getting screwed one way or another. So much so I really hate the days of the nice office life I was laid off from. At least there I was happy because I got the holidays off and was paid for it. But I can’t complain too much I guess because work is so hard to find these days. But I really think the whole retail work structure needs to be re invented. I mean companies should have to pay more than minimum wage and also offer better benefits. I mean no one can live off of minimum wage unless there working 2 or 3 minimum wage jobs. Its just almost impossible. I know there are those who manage to pull it off. But really should we have to struggle so much.
But it’s a holiday tradition I guess. I just think some people are just too cheap or stupid to realize “Hey I can buy this in May and not be killed, or sleep deprived, or trampled”. Personally I am glad I am able to sleep in and rest this Black Friday. Sure I do have to work tonight but I’m not one in a huge rush to go buy anything. I do have a lot of shopping to do for my family and friends but I have no problem with waiting a week or so for things to die down. There will still be good deals coming. But at least I won’t need to wait in a line that’s 4 hours long. The only line I am fearing this year is the line at the post office because I have quite a few international packages to ship to a few friends this year.
So that’s all for today I’ll be back soon with more holiday things and what not. So check back soon. I will get a regular posting schedule going but with BN games and working it may be 1 to 2 times a week. Anyhow Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays to everyone.
It’s all about the music…..
by Timmy on Nov.12, 2009, under Uncategorized
Hello again and welcome to another post of Shiftdown the ranting ideals of my everyday thoughts and opinions. Now I know it’s been quiet here for a month or so and well I can’t say it’s been for a good reason really. As usual I just got a bit lazy and uninspired. But I am still hoping to get a regular thing going here. But recently I have started writing Videogame Reviews on our BN games site. So this means I’m playing games more often these days which eats up quite a bit of my time. Check the site soon because I’ll be doing my review of Forza 3 Motorsport, and DJ Hero.
So like in my title I have to say that this posts going to be about the music. I have been listening to a lot lately (Well I usually do it’s just now more than usual and there are so many great albums out right now). Plus Ive gone back to listening to a lot of music I haven’t heard since I was in High school. And I guess its just that recently Ive been introduced to different types of music that I really never listened to because everyone I know would hate to hear. But then again i did get my own mother to start listening ti H.I.M. ( lol ). But I have to admit I like it. I have been getting bored with the same old songs and classic rock and metal. Opening up to new music really give you a lot more selection. I mean you don’t need to just like one type of music.
Ok so I want to just make some suggestions of bands Ive been hearing and the songs I have heard and just give it a shot and see what you think. Who knows you might even like it. besides if check it out on myspace its basically free so it’s not like i’m saying go out and buy the CD. But if you do like it I do say go buy there CD iTunes really doesn’t pay much and I like to support the bands I like. But still I guess you can download it for free if you know where you can get it. So in no order whatsoever heres some bands you should check out..
Angels and Airwaves – We don’t need to whisper(If you like Tom from Blink 182 you will probably like this band)
Paramore – Ignorance (Really this is the best band I have heard in a long time. All there songs are good)
Dead by Sunrise – Crawl Back in (Chester from Linkin Parks new band including the guys from Julien-K)
Julien-K – Technical Difficulties (The album took forever to get released but its well worth it. Plus tons of remixs)
A skylit drive – Eva the Carrier (I heard the album Wires and the concept of breathing so many times in Japan and I got to say I thought it was great. my only thing is I got to get the JP version cause I want the bonus live track. And usualy i dont like live tracks?)
The Action Design – Landmines (I was a big fan of Tsunami Bomb and I think M’s new band is just as good)
Bad Religion – New Dark Ages (Ok bad Religion is my second favorite band really. Almost every song is great. And for being around so many years has to say something.
The Anix – This Game (remix) (A cali band thats getting off the ground. Check them out on myspace. and if you can find it listen to the song “This Game” but the Remix version I have that I got off myspace when they had it available to down load is the best I think.
AFI – Medicate (This new album has been getting some mixed reviews (Which Ill get into later in this post) but the songs great and I really want to check out the rest of the album)
Lady Ga Ga – Just Dance (Ok personally I’m going to get hell for this one but what list wouldn’t be complete without Lady Ga Ga lol. The songs just catchy. And besides i need a pretty diverse list so this just seemed appropriate)
RIP Slyme – Nettaiya ( So this is a group from Japan that I was introduced to and I have to say its pretty good)
X Japan – IV (One of my absolute favorite bands. Plus they have the best drummer in the world)
Nana Kitade – Kesenai Tsumi (If you liked the music from Full Metal Alchemist then you will know who this is. She has a couple of great CD’s if your into pop and pop rock.
H.I.M. – Razorblade Kiss (It is foreign to us in the US but it is still popular here. Plus I think Ville Valo has the best singing voice compared to anyone else out there today.
Rise Against – Read to Fall (I don’t know what the name is of the single off the new CD but it is also a great song)
Ok so if you don’t want to take my suggestions hey it’s up to you. But just in case you do like the suggestions I’m going to put my favorite albums
X Japan – Jealousy
Bad Religion – The process of beliefe
Bad Religion – New Maps of Hell
The Offspring – Ixnay on the Hombre
H.I.M. – Razorblade Romance
H.I.M. – Dark Light
H.I.M. – Uneasy Listening Vol.2
Paramore – Riot
Paramore – All we know is falling
Tsunami Bomb – The Great Escape
Orgy – Vapor Transmission
Orgy – Punk Statik Paranoia
Blink 182 – Enma of the State
The Anix – Play Dance Repeat
Julien-K – Death to Analog
Black Sabbath – Paranoid
Now it brings me to what i said in the suggestion of AFI. From what i have read there new album Crash love has been getting a lot of mixed reviews because there style has changed a bit. And I see this a lot with bands now. I just think people are too critical of everything. I mean a band should be allowed to experiment and evolve. And if you don’t like it don’t listen to it. Simple as that. But no your going to complain because your favorite Metal god does a pop song. But it’s even not about the music its about selling out. But hey in this day and age if your not selling out your not making any money. All these bands have the same hope and dream of being a famous musician and making millions of dollars and having 18 Lamborghini’s in their mile long driveway. But in order to get that they need to make money. Record companies only see money they don’t see music. They dont even see long term money they see one hit pop wonder that will make them a lot of money fast and in a short time and then you never hear of the person again. All these American idols are plenty proof of that. Their albums do well cause of the hype of the show and after that they really hang on by a thread. Many of them you don’t even hear about, or at least there music anyway. And it’s the same with all these Disney pop bands like the Jonas brothers and such. Once there not small and cute anymore they will be forgotten like most child stars. I actually think it’s pretty sad. But it makes money. And quickly. But since you can get all the songs off the interweb for free the record labels don’t make as much money. And most artists don’t make much money off there CD’s anyway but still it hurts good artists. But pop music caters to a wide audience. So I can understand why if you do it. You need to keep making money or your going to get dropped from your label. And besides it’s not crap if other people like it. Just cause you don’t doesn’t make it crap. It just means you have less taste in music and you are more limited to what you can listen to. And to those of you out there i feel sorry for you because you missing out on so many great songs…
Ok going back to the start again I mentioned I will be reviewing DJ Hero for the BN Games website a little later this week or maybe this weekend. I need a lot more time with the game to make a good detailed review since there is so much to the game. But it made me think this posts about music and I have a complaint about music games. First off Guitar hero Sucks. 1 and 2 were great but from3 on it just sucks. And they need to stop making them. Seriously there are to many now. We live in the age of downloadable content. We do not need a Guitar Hero Metallica, Aerosmith, Van Halen, etc. It is just more attempts to make more money off of some bands name. These are the ones you can say sold out. But there is a new one every week it seems. And what really gets me is that there all the same game. And now there are so many Plastic Peripherals. I’m sorry but there should not be a Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Band Hero that all do the same thing. Personally I think Rock band is the best. But they don’t need band influenced games like Rock band: the Beatles. Just release it as downloadable content. And don’t charge me for a full price game for extra content. The only game i am willing to defend is DJ Hero. Because it is truly the only new Music game to be released as of late. But then again all these games are technically ancient. Why do you ask? Because they have been around a lot longer than before the original Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. In Japan Guitar hero was called Guitar Freaks and it was on the PS1! And DJ hero actually is called Beat Mania (Which i think is still a better game) and it has many different versions already. Sure both of these games are only available in Japan but there old there where here we think its only just been invented. If you compare the beatmania controller to the DJ turn table from DJ Hero theres a massive difference and I think DJ Hero could have evolved the concept a lot further than they did. So I am hoping someone googles it and does something about it for DJ Hero 2 which we all know will come out probably in a few months.
All right that’s it for today. thanks for reading please leave me some comments and let me know your thoughts and opinions. Ill be back later in the week with another post of Shiftdown.
Like leno were back!!! + Road Journal#1
by Timmy on Sep.15, 2009, under Uncategorized
Hello and welcome to Shift down the place for everything, anything, and nothing. Now I know I’ve been gone for a long time now. A months gone by and nothing from me. Well sorry but as i have said in earlier posts I am very good at procrastinating. But things are kinda hectic right now. As well as my 2 weeks in Japan. Which I’ll start tonight off with. So here it is Road journal #1.
I had only been here for 3 hours but what a welcome……..8:00pm the sky was as bright as 12 noon. A shower of sparks filled my field of vision turning the sky to the richest gold. A grand welcome to the place I had dreamed of visiting for the last 5 years. A life goal attained. A fireworks festival in Asaka. The most beautiful display I have ever seen. I have never seen fireworks like it anywhere else in my life. But perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. Lets start at the begging where my journey started.
Los Angeles International Airport – 11:30am
I arrived curbside being dropped off by my mother. Now I have only flown once before. But international travel and domestic are completely different experiences. Now I am impressed at how easy it is to get your boarding passes at the airport however there aren’t many signs for first timers like myself. But the people are pretty helpful with information. I’ll admit it took me about 30 minutes to finally find someone to tell me how to get my pass and check my bags. But when I was at the machine to print them I had them in less than 2 minutes. Now I what I didn’t know was that all you do is leave your bags at the checkpoint and walk away. Which I thought was a little strange because what if somethings wrong? I don’t know what they would do. But I guess it just works. But I think it may be one of the reasons that luggage gets lost. Honestly I think the airport could be run so much more efficiently. Line after line I was making it closer to my gate. I had to wait in line to go up to go to the security check point and then another line at the security checkpoint. Which I will admit the security checkpoint was a lot faster and less crowded than I thought it would be. I was very surprised. But it was good. However the line to get to that was fairly long and was taking a long time. I think I spent an hour in that line bored out of my mind. But right after the checkpoints it was a breezy walk to my departure gate. However i was still nearly 2 hours early. Now normally at this point I would pull out my iPod, DSi, or PSP (even though i didn’t bring my PSP with me) but I had a 11 hour flight ahead of me so I needed to save the battery for the plane ride. And I am so glad i did. And what i didn’t know it that there are computer terminals in the terminals. I thought it was just Wifi. And I have to admit that the price isnt to bad i think. I mean I have seen more expensive prices for internet at internet cafes and Convention centers. In case you want to know its 25 cents a minute and there’s a 3 minute minimum. At 12:45pm I boarded my plane and waited for my departure at 1:30pm.
I have to admit it was a pretty peaceful flight. hardly any turbulance. And I had a lot of leg room. However It was kinda cramped on the sides. But i can’t complain. My only problem was the engine noise. I was in a window seat close by it so I had a hard time trying to cath some sleep. All in all I was only able to get about 4 hours of sleep. And not straight. it was like every other hour I was able to sleep for an hour. But It did help a little bit. But it is a killer flight. theres not much to see out the window except sunlight, clouds, and water. But when you come in for a landing, What a view. The food wasn’t half bad. And I have to admit i did eat a lil bit of everything. even the salad. Which is completely out of the norm for me. But during this trip i swore i would try a little bit of everything. Except fish. That was the only thing i could bring my self not to try. But after 11 hours I finally arrived…
Narita international Airport – Chiba, Japan – 5:45pm
Because of the 17 hour time difference I arrived the next day in Japan. Which was about 10:00pm the day before back here in Los Angeles. Now I have to say i love Narita so much more than LAX. I arrived and was through all the checkpoints in less than 30 minutes. The hardest parts was Immigration. But even that was fast. And with this big swine flu scare there were a lot of procedures to go through. The first was quarantine which was just a small paper telling you precautions and offering you a mask in case you felt you needed one. But since the scare at the time had settled down I guess they lessened the quarantine measures. I assume soon they will be screening people again since winter is coming along with flu season. Glad i was there during the off season. Next up was immigration. Which was easy except filling out the disembarkation card. It is also in English however it can be a little hard to understand. Something I noticed about a lot of English in many places around Tokyo. And I have to say from the terminal through quarantine, Immigration, Baggage claim, and Customs, to the street level was not even a far walk. And another thing is that I walked through Immigration and my bags were waiting for me not even 20 minutes after I walked off the plane. And as soon as i walked out of customs my Bro Tom was waiting for me.
Everything is completely different than here in LA. The expressway, the buildings, the cars, the personalities, everything. But it is a site. The Express way is amazing. Its like a long stretch of road smoothly paved. One of the things I was amazed at is the entire way was sound proofed with a barrier (Or at least I think that what it was for, I’m still not sure exactly) so it did make things kind of hard to see from the express way. One of the things I though that sucked was that the express ways have toll booths. I think it costs about 35 dollars to get from Saitama to Chiba. Kinda steep seeing as you still need to put gas. But i have to say as much driving as we did during my stay we didn’t fill up very often. There cars are very fuel efficient. And I have to admit for as crowded a city as Tokyo the traffic was actually not that bad. However it did take 3 hours to get from the Airport to Asaka. But Tokyo is the most beautiful place at night. The city lights are astounding. I was even more impressed than i was in Las Vegas. Which Up until i went to Shibuya was my favorite city in the world.
Asaka, Saitama – Japan 8:00pm
Now where i began. As I arrived the yearly fireworks display was just starting. And i was greeted by my friends parents who were the most hospitable and friendly people I have ever met. I kind of felt as one of the family during my stay there and I felt very welcome. But I did learn a lesson.
1.) You should not drink if you have been awake for more than a day straight, especially 100 proof alcohol.
2.) It is a good idea to stay up until the time you would normally go to sleep in a different time zone. It really helped fight off the jet lag. Even though I did feel it 2 days later.
3.) Jet lag does exist……and it is a BITCH!!!!
I had three beers, 3 shots of 100 proof southern comfort, and a couple glasses of sake. Lets just say i have never been drunk until that night and it hit hard. And the wall behind me that i was leaning on was the only thing keeping me up right. I had been up since 7:00am in LA and did not go to sleep until 3:00amin Japan (technically 2 days after i left LA). I slept in until 12 the next day i think. however i can’t really remember cause I had a massive headache. Which i have to admit was the only hangover i suffered from even thought I had heavier drinking nights during my trip. I really can’t explain that one….. But my first night in japan was amazing. Probably one of the best nights in my life by far. And the begining of the best trip and the best time I have ever had…
Well I’ll continue the road journals as I try to get this back onto a regular schedule again. I am thinking I will start posting Shiftdown at night this way it gives me a chance to see whats going on in the world, games, and music. Plus i just have more time at night. during the day it gets hard with interuptions of other things I need to do.
So moving on. I have noticed that the economy just keeps getting worse. only thing is everyone keeps saying its getting better.I think that there just covering it up with false hope yet again. More and more i see places saying for lease. And some of the biggest companies have closed down. And even now that I am looking for a job I find that agencys are only accepting applications from about 30 people a day. it is rediculos how bad things are. Even stores i go to have cut back so much as to have 3 to 4 people operating them at a time. I mean how are things supposed to get better when all we keep doing is cutting back. And then raising taxes, DMV fees, Gas prices. Slowly and surely I think we are going to turn into a third world country. Honestly we need to reevaluate everything. And hit the reset button. And it feels like we are avoiding the issue. I mean yeah i am all for a universal health care system but who’s gonna pay for it? Who is going to shell out the cash. And what good will it do when were all living in the streets anyway? We need to fix the financial situation before anything else. We need jobs. And I still would like to know where all this countries money has gone. And if it is the war then i really feel Bush should have a lot of his fortune taken and shelled out to pay for it since it was his brilliant idea. But in any case thats the issue that needs fixing. We need to stop focusing on what kanye did, or how MJ died and realize the truth that were all about to get fucked cause everythings closing down. The stock markets holding steady but its like craking glass, it’s just a matter of time before it shatters and we all fall through…
Well I was going to go on some more but Leno is gonna start (Thank god he’s back on the air!!) so I’m gonna end tonights post here. Oh and for the critics who were saying that The jay Leno Show was a rip off of the Tonight show…He fucking was The Tonight Show!!! he is just doing HIS thing. Why fix whats not broken. just cause you want to force people to like Conan, to assimilate them to him..Leno is the king of Late night and will always be. The only other king was Jhonny Carson. If anyones gonna fill Lenos spot at the 11:35 time slot it will be Letterman or Kimmel. Which I have to say Kimmel should have taken over the Tonight show. No offense to anyone but I just don’t find Conan funny. If you do thats fine but I just don’t think he can fill lenos shoes. And I hope that The Jay leno Show stays on for a long time and they don’t kick it off just cause Conan won’t be able to compeat. But my one critism for Leno is…Give the credit where the credit is due for your new segment of the star in the reasonably priced car. Top gear deserves it. And I still think you should have been the host of the American version that is supposed to start here. You couldn’t top Clarkson i think but you would come close. Well thats allf or tonight. Check back soon for another post of Shiftdown.

Welcome to another post of Shiftdown! My place to posion you mind with the usless rants of a demented lunatic about everything, anything, and nothing…
Sorry for the dry spell here on Shiftdown for the last 4 days. I have still been really busy preparing for this trip to Japan thats only 2 days aways now. Theres still so much to do and check. Honestly I thought I would be more prepared for this. But I still have so much left to do. what doesnt help i that someof the stuff I need to pack I use everyday so I can’t pack it up yet. thats making things a real bitch. But hopefully I can get things all tied down by tomorrow night and hopefully things go off without a hitch. Expect it to be pretty dry here for the next couple of weeks after thursday. Friday will be dead since in the morning I will be flying out and I won’t get to Chiba until 4:30pm and I probably get to Saitama where i’m staying at 7:00pm. And I’m supposed to be going to a party and ‘ll be jet lagged so theres no way in hell there will be a post Frday and maybe also Saturday.
Even with all this preparation I still feel nothing. It hasnt hit me yet that im going to a different country with different customs and a different language (Which I do not know how to speak or understand). I’m guessing that it will hit me tomorrow or as i’m waiting at Airport Security going through the check point. But as much as this whole trip has cost me theres no turning back. I can’t just say “Nevermind”. I am excited don’t get me wrong. it’s a trip of a lifetime. Hopefully I will get to go back again in time. But I do have to say I have a lot of worries right now. Mainly the language barrier that I face. But its all just the unkown too me. It’s just I have no clue what to expect. And thats what worries me most.
Well I have some more stuff to do so I will try and write more on it later…

Yet another day of mindless confusion…

So here we are once again. Another post of Shiftdown. The place for everything, anything, and nothing.
Back to the writers block again today. but not for reason of timing or being busy. No today it is just straight out dead day for writing. This tends happen to me a lot and just is impossible to get out of. My minds racing about so many different things. I do have ideas to write about but the boredom level is just do high today I just cant focus long enough to compile meaningful sentences into a paragraph.
So I’m going to try and collect my thoughts. And i’ll come back later tonight and make a long post. Sorry for the Lag but there will be a post tonight.
What was I going on about?

So a new day and a new post of Shiftdown where my tired mind trys to think up and string together random words about everything, anything and nothing.
Sorry about yesterday people. I just have some serious off days. I’m really not a writer even though lately I have been trying a bit. But it’s hard when its not a major interest. That or if the newes of the day is slow and theres no topics to post and elaborate on. Some days will be like that i’m afraid. I’ll try not to make today as short and lame as yesterdays post.
Again my work schedule is a little off today. I don’t know what it is about having more time that makes it seem so much harder to write this. Well maybe its like I said last week. i work better under a deadline. When I have the full day to do something I’ll just wait until the very last second to get it done. I don’t know it makes it seem easier and like less work. Although more of an annoyance. I’m just bad with timing. Anyhow things here at work are soon coming to a close. As of next thursday I will be out of here. I’m actually a little excited cause i’m a little sick of it here. And I’m a little on edge about some of the people I work with. My goal for the next week is to not just go off on anyone. Although I fell myself slipping.
(*Breaking News*) – From Digg.com: The Taco Bell Dog has died at 15 years old.
Well this really seems to be a bad year for celebrites. Bee Aurthur, David Carradine, Ed Mc Mahon, Micheal jackson, Farah Faucet, Billy Mayes, And now the Taco bell dog. Soon hollywoods going to just be all these new celebs that I really care nothing about. And I don’t care much about the older ones that much anyway. But there are so few people that make an impact like the people listed above anymore. Honestly most of the actors and bands now are one hit wonders and disney child stars that are only famous until they hit lgal age and fuck up somehow. Sure i feel bad for them in some ways. They grow up doing something and get typcast into it. And its not really there fault. Its the companys producing these crap shows thatare aimed at young kids to make money off lip sync concerts and lunch boxes. Its all for a quick buck. it why I hate marketing people so much and why the quality of everything such as games, movies, etc. I mean now if one movie makes it big they make 20 more all similar to it. And Video Games. they make a shitty game for verym movie that comes out. im sorry but Harry potter video games just suck, along with X-men and Spiderman games just to name a few. I’m even getting tired of all the lego series games. Just cause lego starwars made it bid they had to do one for Batman (At the same time The Dark Knight came out), Indiana Jones (Alond with Kindom of the Crystal Skull (Which Sucked)), And now there doing it with Rock band. I’m just waiting for a Rock band titled movie to come out. And I don’t mean Spinaltap or Airheads. I am truly sick of all of these. Please stop making this crap.
You know lately i have been meeting with a lot of creative people and hearing how there going to put there material up on there own website. Which is cool and all but it shows me how little people think to protect there ideas. Which is fine if you don’t mind people stealing you work and ideas. This is why I have been stressing the protection of a lot of ideas we have had here on BN.com. So I got to plug this because I think it can help anyone if you just listen in. Go to indie1031.com and listen to barely legal radio with joe esclante. I listen to it every week (Friday at 11am to 12pm) or get it on the podcast as most of you do. he gives free legal advice on all kinds of topics from the movie industry, music industry, a new buisness, photography. It’s just an all around good place to get some good answers from an expirenced person. Even from just listening every week I have learned a lot, mostly about fair use law. BUt it’s great advice and tips if you thinking of getting into any kind of buisness or starting up some kind of website or band.
Well I’m gonna call it here for this edition of Shiftdown. Tune in tomorrow for another post. Till then
